This subspecies has a great range that comprises British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Northwest Territories, and Yukon. They can also be found in northern parts of Minnesota, North Dakota, and Michigan. Their total population is around 380,000.

Eastern Moose

This subspecies is similar in size to the northwestern moose. They can found from the Hudson Bay to the Great Lakes in Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Ontario in Canada. In the U.S, their population is about 30,000, and some expansion has also happened south to Connecticut and Massachusetts. Their total population all around the world is about 290,000. They are also known as mahogany brown.

Shiras Moose: moose size comparison

It is one as one of the smallest subspecies of moose in North America. About 25,000 shiras moose live in the Rocky Mountain states and Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, British Columbia, and Alberta. However, their population is increasing into northeastern Washington. They usually have a paler grayish-brown color skin. Their most prominent member can have six feet in height with a weight of 1,200 pounds.
