Not everyone lives in transportation convenience like I do, I get that. So the next best thing after walking to the nearest train/bus/minibus station would have to be taking the bike. Or in this instance, the electric scooter. We’ve talked about several here on Whoopzz, but this is going to be our lightest one yet. Swiss and Lithuanian startup Citybirds has just released their thinnest and lightest the Eagle electric scooter.
How the Eagle Electric Scooter Works
Since this model has only just been released, the prototype displayed in the ISPO trade expo in Munich will be slightly different from the real thing. While this model is made of plastic, the real Eagle electric scooter will be made with carbon fiber. This material is widely used to make light yet highly durable products. The scooter is also foldable like its non-electric counterparts, slotting the rear wheel in place into the handlebar column. Citybirds has yet to release details on the actual weight and dimensions. But design-wise, this is made to be easily carried around on the shoulders between rides.
What we do know right now is that the Eagle electric scooter can get up to speeds of 25km/hr. A single charge can get you a solid 15km (9.3 miles), which should be enough for getting around for short trips. Now the company is also offering an induction charging plate. This means you can wirelessly charge your scooter in the trunk of your car, and offer short distance traveling after you get off. I mean, I can imagine this being useful for road trips.
The most interesting part of this is that there is going to be a display on the handlebars that can sync with your smartphone to show navigation, weather, and notifications. Connected via Bluetooth, this can get you all the info you might need while traveling without stopping and taking out your phone. Remember kids, no texting or using the phone while you’re driving.
The Eagle electric scooter is still very much in its development stage, so it’s going to take another year or so before it comes out.
