We all like listening to music, whether it is blasting it from our speakers at home or going to concerts or even in our cars. With increasing phone memory capacities and music streaming apps, we’re more inclined to stick our headphones on while we’re out and about on public transportation. I always find myself looking into better quality earphones or headphones so I can hear all the details and enjoy my music better, but it’s not always our earphones’ fault when we can’t get the sound quality we want. Sometimes, it’s also because the quality of the output from our phones is not good enough. 2 years ago, Taiwan-based tech company Nexum created the AQUA amplifier to give our music files the boost they need. They are back again with an improved version of the AQUA+ wireless headphone amplifier, so you won’t risk your phone flying out of your pocket when the wires catch something.

If you remember the iPod shuffle from a decade ago, this is sort of similar, only that it’s an amplifier. In the previous generation, you need to connect the device to your phone with a cord and then connect your headphones to it, so it makes one giant slightly inconvenient chain. With this wireless version, you can easily slip it into your pocket or hold it in your hand as you go about your day without having to worry about tugging your headphones loose from your phone. It also helps that AQUA+ can be charged wirelessly and can play up to 8 hours straight in one charge.

Like more wireless phone accessories, this device also uses Bluetooth to connect to your phone to amplify audio files into HiFi quality 32bit 384K ones. All you need to do is to press the 32bit button until it connects, then simply plug your headphones in, press play, and voila! Quality music. Our normal 24bit audio is pretty good, but when you convert it to 32bit, there will be less ‘information’ lost during the conversion (which is why the best quality ones are called lossless). The HiFi technology within the amplifier will be able to capture the data and reproduce the lost information, so users can hear the best quality sounds possible.

They are currently live on Kickstarter with 3 color choices: Sublime Gold, Midnight Black, and Radiant White. At the Early Bird price of USD99, you can get an AQUA+ with its wireless charging pad, shipping in November this year. But because they’re only shipping to certain countries, you’re going to have to check with them first.
