Now we know how great the iPhone 7 cameras are compared to the rest of the smartphone market, but when you want to play around with special effects, nothing beats an additional lens. There are apps out there that create fisheye and wide angle lens effects, but those aren’t that great most of the time and screws up the photos instead. That’s why most of my friends bring around an clip-on lens with them all the time, mostly the wide angle one because it makes everyone look nicer in selfies. Another popular item is a clip-on LED light that helps blur out imperfections with the brightness. Marrying these two ideas together creates tech company Shift’s up-coming product RevolCam, which is the ultimate clip-on lens and light combo with everything you’d ever need for those perfect photos on Instagram.

As seen in the GIF above, there are 3 lenses for you to choose from: wide angle, fisheye, and macro. These pretty much cover everything you would need to take a multitude of photos to satisfy the inner photographer in all of us, from super close up shots to wide angle selfies to funky distorted effects. The LED light on top is a great addition, because instead of only lighting up in one brightness level like most products out there, you can adjust the brightness level for this by twisting it. So now you can really play around with photography effects with this clip-on lens. There is a small mirror on the LED light, so you can sort of know how you look.

But if you’re not using the LED light, you can it off to access the bigger mirror behind it, so no more ugly selfies for anyone. This is especially useful for when taking rear cam selfies, because nobody really knows how they’re looking and usually produces the ugliest and most awkward group photos ever (you have no idea how much I’ve suffered from them). The best thing about this item though is probably the fact that RevolCam is compatible with all phones and not just the iPhone. Most clip-on lenses on the market are made for the iPhone only, so poor Android users like me can’t exactly benefit from them. May phone discrimination end!

The only catch about all this is that RevolCam is not out yet. Shift released their product announcement this month, but no crowdfunding pages are up yet. But if you are interested in keeping up with news of this product, you can head on over to their website and sign up for announcements.
