Camping is usually a summer affair when the days are warm and bright, but the scenery in winter just calls for a camping trip amidst the snow. Now you’re all thinking is that I’m going to freeze to death. Or at the very least, regret my stupid decision in the middle of the freezing night. But fear not, for I shall have a trusty portable heating blanket with me! Korea-based company Radiance has come up with their Rakin battery heated blanket that uses 5V power banks to deliver warmth even in the middle of nowhere. No sockets needed.
How the Rakin Battery Heated Blanket Works
The Rakin battery heated blanket doesn’t need a power outlet because it uses any commercially available 5V (2.1A) power banks to keep it wireless and portable. There are lots of really thin and flexible heating wires going through the blanket to give you extra warmth. Radiance paired this with heat retaining goose down to trap both your body heat and the generated heat for a super cozy blanket. You can lay this down in your tent as bedding or wrap it around yourself.
The reason why this keeps you warm is due to its special SFIM (SUHO Far-Infrared heating wire composite material) technology used to make the wires. What far-inftrared rays do is create a heat reaction upon being absorbed into our bodies. Our blood circulation quickens, and protein molecules in cells start shaking 2,000 times a minute to create a heating reaction. So no, it’s not really the blanket that’s keeping you warm. It’s what’s making you warm.
Portable and Comfortable
Because this blanket is marketed for camping and the great outdoors, it’s very light (under 500g!), flexible, and easy to bring around. You can easily fold it into its cylinder bag, and strap it to your backpack, or carry it around in one hand. Going outdoors can be a messy, dirty affair. But the Rakin battery heated blanket is water repellent, machine washable, and dryer-safe. You don’t even need to take anything out because the wires twist and conform to any shape you bend them into without breaking. The Rakin battery heating blanket comes in 2 sizes and five colors: black, blue, peach, mint, and wine. You can choose between 3 heat levels, and it can last for quite some time depending on which setting you choose. Low is 9 hours, medium is 6.75 hours, and high is 4.5 hours.
For those who are interested, this is already live on Indiegogo! For USD 137, you can get the Super Early Bird deal for a medium-sized blanket.
