Camping out in the great outdoors is totally great, especially when the weather isn’t too hot or cold. While camp fire cooking sounds very attractive, with all the s’mores and roasted marshmallow goodness. It’s not as fun as it seems. The fire is hard to control and cooking with it usually ends in a lot of charred bits you need to pick off. Unless you’re a pro. And hauling all the pots and pans and gas burners is a gigantic hassle, because there’s not real way to bring them along easily. This is where iKamper’s EatOut kitchen system comes in as an all-in-one self contained cooking box with everything you need to cook in the great outdoors.

How the EatOut Kitchen System Works

This aluminium cooking box has everything you need from prep work to cooking to even storing your food. The only thing it doesn’t have is a sink, but for camping trips, there is usually a water source nearby. Don’t think that because this box looks tiny that it doesn’t hold much, because you can easily pull out a foldable Birch plywood table that sits 4 people. On the second panel of this table, there are 2 gas burners for convenient cooking, since it utilizes an easy ignition system with 8500 BTUs per unit. So any standard butane canister will do the job.

Cooking is always a messy affair, so I can imagine you guys worrying about the Birchwood tables. Fear not, because the EatOut kitchen system tables have a generous waterproof, easy-clean coating, so you only need to wipe your messes with a clean cloth. Though I would recommend not putting a knife to it, because that can definitely cut through the coating. Do use a chopping board. Currently, iKamper has 2 models out. Excursion is the smaller of the two with only a 37 liter volume for storage, while Expedition has just under 51 liters. Both are around 15 pounds when empty, so it’s definitely not something you can easily carry around without a car.

Upgrades

Now onto the upgrades and accessories. The EatOut kitchen system comes with several upgrade options, although I think the light and the cooler are the best. The attachable LED lantern with a telescopic stand is great for camping trips. Especially since it can get rather dark in the countryside, having a bright LED light that is built to withstand rain, dust, and general rough treatment is more than ideal. By mounting it onto the burner panel, you have proper lighting to see what and how you’re cooking. For those who are picky about their lights, you can adjust the brightness and color through an accompanying app. The built-in cooler transforms part of your storage into a cold box, so you can put leftovers and even marinating meats in it. It’s also removable, so you can make it an instant drinks box if you want.
