Personally, I like cooking and I’m not too bad at it. So even on nights when I have to cook for myself after a tiring day at work, I’m cool with it. For those who aren’t so keen on cooking though. I can imagine how annoying it can be, and why so many people prefer eating take out. But this is not the most healthy option. Belgium-based foodtech startup Mealhero is giving us the perfect meal system for busy people who still want to eat healthy.
How This Meal System Works
Mealhero comes in 3 parts. There’s the internet-connected steamer which knows how long it should cook different foods, so you can sit back, relax, and do your thing while you wait. Then there’s the home delivered food box that comes with freshly frozen ingredients. This way, you don’t even need to make grocery trips and can focus on the things you enjoy. Like lazing around in the house. Or watching Netflix. Or playing video games. The third part to this trifecta is its accompanying app. This provides all the ‘recipes’ for inspiration on how you can mix the ingredients up into fancy, tasty, yet healthy dishes.
The most important part of this meal system is the smart steamer. Since it will only cook ingredients from the Mealhero box, its scanner will recognize each ingredient you put in. It then collects the needed data from its database to automatically cook your food to perfection. No more overcooked meats with Mealhero! Each food box comes freshly frozen and all ingredients are cut, chopped, and packaged separately. The accompanying app does all the donkey work for you. It lets you know how much food you have left, what you can make with what you have, and also gives you insight on what other foods you can try based on your taste profile.
Now you must think that this is going to be a gigantic rip off. But Mealhero is assuring customers that each meal under this meal system will only range between EUR6.5 and EUR9.5 including delivery fees. But this all depends on how much you order per food box, because the more you order is definitely going to lower your costs per meal. I’m not saying you should bulk order. But maybe you can consider getting a few friends who hate cooking as much as you do to order together. Makes sense, right?
So for those who are interested, head over to their Kickstarter. You can have a trial with the smart steamer and 3 meals at EUR229 (USD309). If you like it, you can go from there.
